DPC Honored by Printing Industries of New England November 2007 — Out of a field of more than 300 entries from 50+ member companies, Dartmouth Printing Company took home nine awards for printing excellence in the Printing Industries of New England’s first-ever Awards of Excellence competition. Launched in an effort to create a new outlet for members to promote the quality of their print reproduction work, awards were presented in 18 different categories of print production. Using a panel of three out-of-state judges with extensive experience in printing and print production, each entry was judged on its own merits in a category with similarly printed pieces. The judging criteria, which focused on technical quality and print execution, included registration, clarity and neatness, sharpness of halftones and line drawings, richness and tonal qualities of color, paper and ink selection, ink coverage, difficulty of printing, effective contrast or softness, overall visual impact and bindery. In Division 3, comprising printers with more than 100 employees, DPC received five of the eight awards presented in the Magazine category, including three Pinnacle awards for “best in category.” Pinnacle awards were presented only to flawless entries. Winning titles included: DPC also received two of the three awards presented for Web Press Printing in its division: and two of the five awards presented for Catalogs, 4 Colors or More, in Div. 3: Noted PINE President James Tepper, “Only those printers who produced truly exquisite work were honored. The printers who receive these awards can take pride in being recognized among New England’s finest.”
